Say Goodbye to HS1

Hello to Boris and applaud what a fine job he and our new Chancellor of the Exchequer are doing.

It is time to mothball HS1, a hugely controversial railway that is not yet needed between London and the northern cities.

And remember, Boris, that you promised the northern cities inward investment and a new type of railway would make their links stronger and faster.

We cannot afford it, certainly not with the £300 billion that has rightly been promised to businesses to keep them alive.

Closing schools? How will children access school meals? Those with free meals are being offered vouchers, yet there is a large number of children who are borderline, about to be offered. Can Churches step in and give out free lunch, provided by community charities?

And why can’t your children run around in your garden? If someone sneezes on the other side of the fence, it should be up to the main caregiver.

Reporters Are Scaring The Public

Hello,

Coronavirus is a serious virus, but TV reporters ought to

a) stop asking banal, predictable questions, such as

i) How many people are likely to get it and

b) how many people will die?

The UK Chief of Health could barely disguise his contempt, when he responded, as, of course, he can only give best estimates at the moment. When our scientists have time to study patients and the Coronavirus, they will be in a better position help.

However, I find the jumping on the bandwagon by the Press, to be sickening. They should be encouraging and telling people what to do in case symptoms appear.

Discussion of symptoms is avoidable.

Current advice is to wash hands thoroughly, cough or sneeze into a tissue and away from other people. The NHS must be clear and in a bigger font than it is currently.

We are going to cope with it in the UK.

The lemmings are in the stockmarket. They have been clinging to the cliff edge for the past two weeks. Stockmarkets the world over, fell last week.

So to Fund Managers, look to your assets, back British companies, encourage them to trade. Now that we are out of the EU, we should have limitless opportunities – Canada, Australia, We can export our products, with a promise that transport has had a deep clean and will continue en route. And before it unloads. This gives a positive, upbeat outlook and will shove the lemmings back in their corral.

Good luck for a positive week
